At LaFrance, we recognize the importance of sustainable practices in today's world. Our Sustainability Team introduced a new program this year aimed at minimizing our environmental impact: an e-waste recycling partnership with Sycamore International. Our partnership with Sycamore provides a convenient and responsible way for LaFrance employees and family members to dispose of their used electronics, including old devices, small kitchen appliances, printers, cords, chargers, and keyboards.
Our first collection of electronics took place on February 28th at our Concordville office. Once our bin filled up, Sycamore International collected it for data destruction and recycling using ITAD e-scrap processes. We are excited to share the impact report we received:
Reused Assets: 5
Recycled Assets: 750 lbs.
CO2 Emissions Prevented: 653 lbs.
Landfill Waste Diverted: 780 lbs.
Sycamore International specializes in environmentally conscious e-waste disposal. They are a certified R2v3 facility, the world’s most widely adopted standard for responsible used electronics practices. This not only ensures that our electronic devices are disposed of responsibly, but also contributes to the circular lifecycle by reusing whole electronics when possible and recovering valuable materials. Sycamore International operates with an entirely carbon-neutral process and generates 100% of their electricity on site with a solar microgrid.
We know that our used electronics can make a great positive impact on the world when recycled properly. LaFrance’s program not only benefits our employees but also contributes to a larger movement of responsible electronics recycling and helps bridge the digital divide. This program is ongoing, and we look forward to seeing future impact reports. Together, we can work towards a more sustainable future by properly disposing of electronic waste.
